Like most Cat Sebastian books, this is adorable so far. It feels like a bit of a remix of previous characters but I was just in the mood for a fluffy feel-good book.

Aaaaand it's come back around to being boring. I feel like the plot is being over explained at this point.

Is this Harrow's best book yet?

The twists and turns! I was worried about getting back to Walter's POV because he is so bland, but the events more than make up for it.

Una is such an interesting character. I knew Owen was hardcore indoctrinated with propaganda but him presuming her saintly innocence is pretty hilarious.

This is a bit of a thriller! At least for it's time. I do wish the whole thing had been from Marian's perspective, she's the best!

I don't think I can keep reading this. The humor is good but it's too much, all style no substance. I also have a hard time telling most of the characters apart in terms of who is talking or in a room at any given time. I really want to like this because Sunny and Alex are interesting but it has been such a slog. I dunno, maybe I will try to push through.

What is the deal with the knights wearing eyeliner? Some pacing problems and I have mixed feelings about the gargoyle, though there is good banter and I don't hate the quest, despite Gillig's over reliance on maguffins. The abbess stuff was not remotely surprising and the shroud is ridiculous but overall it's solid fun so far.

Great concept, the whole dreaming thing is very interesting. I feel like they weren't really orphans though and that they don't actually ever get to leave, this all feels too culty for that. I have seen this author waste an amazing concept before though so I am wary.

This feels like a Marvel movie: too quippy to convey any emotion and action scenes that can get a bit boring...which would be fine except it is asking for more than 2 hours of my attention. He also seems to struggle with juggling that many characters.

They still aren't on the island. WTF! It's not a bad book exactly but the blurb really sets up expectations that it doesn't follow through on. And it's sooooooo slow.

Kind of Terry Pratchett vibes so far. Not necessarily my thing but I respect it.

Marian's POV continues to be the best but it still could be trimmed up a bit.

Marian's perspective definitely improves things. The aunt with an Italian count husband definitely is giving a little Udolpho.

I am happy to be done with Walter's section, he is a little too much of a navel gazer for me. Are we only getting men's perspectives? I want a Marian perspective, she is the most intriguing character.

I really like the themes around the way women are judged and revisiting what you thought about someone retroactively. I do wish there was more about the scheming that goes on around the bonfire, the romance is nice but I just need a little more balance.

This started off really boring but then I was so pleased when the Woman in White showed up so quickly and things picked up...now it's back to boring.

Straight up devastating. I had a lot of empathy for Tom's dad but I feel like making the decision not to tell him was a selfish one and that it robbed Tom of something that he can't really get back at this point.

The characters are excellent. I feel for everyone involved and am still really enjoying the writing, though I do think there is a bit that could have been cut.

This is so dumb. If it is some sort of allegory for grooming, it is poorly done because it just seems like this girl is inexplicably attracted to her uncle and is blind to the extremely obvious indicators (I am talking mustache twirling level) that he is the villain. She is also having trouble pacing all three of the timelines so that some are just killing time.

I don't feel like your average college student had a laptop in the late 90's so that felt weird to me when Minerva isn't supposed to be super privileged. Also, WTF is up with Alba and her uncle?! I mean he is obviously a major villain so it's not surprising he is creepy but like, why is she into him? If they hook up I may have to rage quit this book.

I've been struggling through this book for weeks and maybe just need to give up. I can't believe this is the same author as Mexican Gothic. Why does Alba seem like she is into her uncle's incest vibes? Is there a twist here, because it seems like the characters in all the timelines are ignoring the pretty obvious villains. Too obvious maybe...unless this book really is that dumb.

I really did not expect this book to go so heavy on the medium/seance stuff, it's the main part of the plot so far. However, the writing itself is great! Everything feels real and textured, so even though not a lot has happened, it still feels interesting.

Constant carnage and gore and I am here for it. Usually I get annoyed by vampires that can daywalk because then they are basically just fae or superheroes, but in this case I feel like the author added additional lore that counterbalances that to be sure to make vampirism super tragic. I love a tragic vampire.
