This isn't working for me. Seems boring and lacking substance.

At 30% I switched to the audiobook. Now at 50%, I am DNFing. I am bored and just don't care about any part of the story.

As it turns out, it didn't happen. DNFing the audio at 20%. Liked the narrators. MC is really incompetent. Story is slow and repetitive. No thanks.

I won't add this to my classroom library due to the inclusion of animal cruelty descriptions. A shame, since I typically love Leslie Connor stories.

Nope. The audio narrator was great. The storytelling was the worst I have ever tried to read. Major info dump followed by characters in situations the author didn't bother to explain.

I am so disappointed. This is the 2nd Emily Henry I've tried and they just don't work for me. I just knew I would love her books.

This just isn't for me. I was bored.

I liked this and wanted to continue, but there was no way I could finish it before it was returned to the library. I would like to continue another time.

DNFing the audiobook at Chapter 6. Completely bored.

How is this story so good?

I decided to DNF this book because it was putting me in a reading slump, or sorts. I was really immersed into the story. However, the writing style wasn't for me. It seemed to take way too many words to get to the point of each chapter. To compound that issue, many events were recounted by another point of view. When you can glean new meaning from this style, I love it. But this was just repetitive for me.

I borrowed this audiobook from the library. The premise is interesting, but the story didn't work for me. A curse was supposed to keep June from lying, but she seemed to be able to lie when she wanted to anyway. Not a fan and won't be purchasing for my classroom.

Why would Ben be talking to only Petra? The other kids are in the same room.

"The Donnies of the world are always gonna try and tell you you're worthless. It's your choice whether you believe them or not."

"Sometimes, when a soul is very sad, it doesn't really want to not be sad; it just wants to not be sad alone."

I just can't keep reading this. The main character is extremely passive about her life. Yet, she is unhappy about it at the aame time. Apparently, I hate that in a main character. DNF'ing at 22%.

I listened to this on audiobook. I liked it at first, but it just got boring. It is like the author is great at developing characters, but not great at storytelling. I found this overly wordy and choppy. DNF'ed at 50%.

This cover is cute, but the writing is atrociously stilted. I can't tell if the author is calling her younger self bad on purpose or by accident. But honestly, I don't care about anything happening in the book. Dnf'ing. I don't even think I will take this to school.

I am DNFing this. It makes no sense to me. Kids probably won't be familiar with the food descriptions. How does she have the money for all these ingredients and the means to hide the evidence of her cooking? The narrator is good, but the storyline falls flat for me.

DNFing the audiobook at 50%. The narrator is great, but the story is superficial and boring. I can't imagine this story holding the attention of my 5th graders.

Yeah, no. At 44% I am DNFing Survive the Night. This is my first Riley Sager book. So many people seem to like his books. I don't think I am one of them. The reason for the main character's unreliability is off-putting. Next book, please!

I didn't dislike this, but I wasn't motivated to keep reading it at this time.

This is just not the right book for me at this time.

I just can't take it anymore. I started listening to this on audiobook. I admire the narrator's ability to convey the anxiety of the main character. However, it began to feel melodramatic fairly quickly. I thought maybe switching to the physical book would help, but no. I am sad that this wasn't for me.

I am DNF'ing this book as the content is too mature for my 5th graders.
