I’m seeing so many skeptic reviews on this system here on goodreads. As a fellow bujo-ist (yes one of those that decorates it also) for 4 years and counting, it is truly a thorough system. It seems overwhelming with the jargons and all, but give it a go for a bit. As with any system, you’ve try it on and see if it suits you.

I’ve picked up the book months back, but felt unrelatable in the first 2 chapters. So i put it aside. Worked thru some recurring loss of directions these past weeks, and somehow the book seemed much more actionable. It’s such a refreshing feeling to read a book by fellow muslimah.

Super interesting stories, though admittedly I often got lost in the neurology jargons.

Backman is a very good storyteller. I found the way he describe complicated feelings of the characters through the changes of their cars more succinct than any.

Sorrow when shared, brings people closer. When not shared, drives them apart.

I like how the author has a different voice in this book compared to my previous read Anxious People. Some words, sentences and paragraphs were aptly repeated to emphasize its importance to Ove. Kinda poetic too.

I cannot tell you how smooth he writes in the twists and turns.

At this point, i have absolute trust that he wouldn’t purposely leave any bits he introduced in the story hanging. And each one so well written at that.

Also, personally, I love how he writes with the tendency to tangent off to other disconnected but rather related. My brain works like this too. Lol.

You know how most self-help books are said to be ‘should have been an article but pumped up into a book’?

This one is not one of them. Halfway in, I’m learning so much, and I’m so glad that there is more to it. If you can only ever read 1 book to help yourself, this is the one I’d recommend.

I picked up this book because the descriptions of an HSP really seems to explain me. My thoughts, tendencies, reactions etc. But this book is so hard to read on. Feels so cringe-y. Too much narrative and personal anecdote, lack research citation. Feels like reading a self help book by random influencers instead of a PhD researcher. I will try to march on to find the good bits, but ugh.

Tempted to abandon this book!

Confuse!

Am really enjoying his language in the book. I like how he gives really good examples with clear answers. He asks thought provoking questions to illustrate his points. He sounds firm, and kind. The joy of talking about difficult matters with a person who can speak their mind with conviction, without having to ridicule others or use curse words. Looking forward to finishing the book!
