Okay so this story cannot be set in 2026 because Easter Sunday falls on the 6th of April

But Easter Sunday hasn't fallen on that date since 1980, well before America's conflict with Afghanistan began, nor WILL it fall on that date until 2042(!) far too long after the conflict ended for a man in his (presumably) late twenties to have only recently returned from combat

The story is only mildly interesting btw

this is such a stupidly long slog for me because the love interest is ex-US army which is already a bit of an amber flag but it gets even worse because I have yet to actually learn what he did in the army because only an unspecified "war" has been mentioned so far 🫥

I love Ireland I love Irish literature I need to read more of it this year

Somewhat annoying to be reading at the same time as Claire Keegan, but that's my own fault for being perpetually unable to stick with one book at a time. If anything, reading this will make me appreciate Keegan's writing all the more.
