While to be expected for a fascist text, the overtly anti-intellectual elements are rather depressing especially for a "propagandist of pessimism" such as I. Also, kind of lays bare the open hypocrisy of nationalism - to condemn another country for advocating its interests and identity abroad but to do that very same thing yourself.

Opening story was beautiful. The anti-pasta diatribes are amusing but this is surprisingly prescient of discourses around automation and the body as a work of art. I suppose it all comes back to merging the right wing idea of preserving a national character with the often sensual and poetic nature of avant-gardism.

I can kind of understand the divisiveness as the blurb makes it sound like surreal sci-fi and it kinda is but that aspect is more implied compared to the overt element of beautiful descriptions of the natural and psychological landscape as well as sex. Learned a bunch of cool new words from this as well. Overall, has some absolutely mind blowing lines.
