I’m struggling to finish this one. The same intense action followed by periods of long exposition that we saw in the first book also plague this one.

It’s clear that Alderson has talent for story craft, but he would benefit from leaning on a good editor to help bring the depth and polish to his writing that he hasn’t yet had enough time to find on his own.

An interesting book at its core, but at just over halfway in, I admit…

I’m seriously bored. Both characters indulge in waaaay too much inner monologue, and it takes forever for the story to move forward. Even the second scene was overly drawn out and boring.

I’m going to put this one down for a while. We’ll have to see if I pick it back up.

I think I’m going to have to set this one down for a while. I don’t hate it, but I’m really struggling, which says a lot for such a short light and fluffy book.

It seems like everyone who reads this one is squarely in either “camp love it” or “camp hate it.” At just over two thirds of the way through the book, I’m definitely in the later.

I’m so annoyed with Ben that, instead of rooting for his HEA, I find myself hoping he gets slapped down a few pegs instead. If Ben doesn’t have to eat some serious crow and grovel before the end, I’ll be pissed.

I’m into the fifth book (“Tiger’s Den”) now. The series is picking up speed, especially after the rather slow start in the first two books. I have to say though. I was seriously close to DNFing in book three (“Beta’s Thief” or just “Thief”) when there was a brief MMM scene and the one of the MCs continued to screw someone besides his fated mate. Over it now, but will never read that one again.

I’m really struggling with the level of passive aggressive BS the MC puts up with, especially from his mother. He keeps saying he “loves his family,” but I seriously don’t understand how.

From the other reviews, I get the impression it’ll be worth the read if I can get past the beginning. I’m just not sure how much more I can put up with before I have to DNF.

After binge reading the first 5 of Gregory Ashe’s 6 “Hazard and Somerset” mysteries in a week, I’m gonna have to take a break before plunging onto the final installment.

1) I need to catch up on my sleep.
2) The world and characters that Ashe creates are so vivid, I’m feeling emotionally spent. (In the good way. Mostly.)
