rereading this for the first time in close to a decade and very pleased how well it has held up. a classic Asimov-style space opera, compellingly written and with a good balance of introducing new technology and social structures but still having grounded characters and motivations

burning through this one, although the pacing of the main plot feels a little uneven. super into the world-building in general and the technobabble in particular (an entropic field that is modulated to the concept of weaponry is my current favourite)

working my way through fairly slowly, very charmed by most characters that aren’t Paul
