does this author know that cows are female? maybe the main character isn't aware because according to his hallucinations "cows want pussy just like the next guy" and "they're all brothers"

I don't understand the low rating, I mean this is obviously extreme horror/splatterpunk full of disgusting bits, literally. It's good at what it's doing, and it's well written as well, which I definitely didn't expect going into it. You can actually sympathise with Steven too, at least up to where I'm at

This has been entertaining but pretty surface level because of how emotionally distant the MC is. Despite finding the jokes funny, I'm having a hard time progressing with this book.

Goddamn I should read more historical fiction, this book is great. I think people are falsely categorising it as a horror novel. Sure, what's happening here without the ghost thing is horrifying enough, but this is just.. a tragic literary novel showing how bad racism was, or rather, has always been
