Okay...Catherine is hella dramatic and i don't understand how TWO mfs want to put up with her nonsense!

Richard was spitting FACTS with this quote on page 168:

“I just decided me one day that I was going to get to know everything them white bastards knew, and I was going to get to know it better than them, so could no white son-of-a bitch nowhere never talk me down, and never make me feel like I was dirt…”

Whew… the last few pages of this book have been intense and the hypocrisy is REAL.

So many things happening that make me want to cry, cuss out man, & beg for mercy. This book really forces you to reflect and think about your past transgressions and how they’ve impacted others while also reflecting on how other people’s transgressions have impacted you.

this book is powerful and i definitely recommend it!

“set thine house in order, for thou shalt die and not live” - a chilling reminder that pulls you to the altar to pray & release past transgressions and pain.

Growing up in the church, I resonate with majority of this book & the message it’s trying to send so far. To truly understand Blackness, especially in those days, one must try to understand the church/religion & the impact it had on black communities.

So many preparations happening! I'm excited asf to see how this floor turns out for everyone, so far so good!

I have a feeling…I am not going to like how these next few chapters are going to turn out for Medusa 👀

Medusa reminds me of me…her willingness to help others and find solutions to the problems she sees.

I know of her story as her story was always one that intrigued me during my Mythology obsession phase! So it kills me to know that all she is experiencing now is because she was a pawn in a Olympians’ game and that her life is going to change but I still have a good chunk of book left though so we’ll see!

Haven’t had much time to read over the last few days but every time I had just a few minutes to pick it up, I was sad to have to put it back down again.

I am really enjoying reading about Meddy’s time in Athens and experiencing this new vibrant city through her eyes.

I am really enjoying this read so far. Am just starting part 2!

I love that since the beginning this book has been playing like a mini movie in my head! Again, gotta force myself to put it down and go to sleep BUT I will be reading more tomorrow for sure!

I had to force myself to put the book down & go to sleep as I finished Part 1 of the story.

Feeling very emotional after reading part 1, which focuses on the younger years of Medusa’s backstory. I always felt like there was more to her story than what’s shared in the mythology books.

On to part 2!

Wow! I’m not super far into the book but it has been captivating so far! Am enjoying the author’s writing style. She does a good job at describing her scenes and characters in enough detail that I feel like I am standing in the room with them, taking it all in!
