This is my first Romantasy. I am open. However, I got a bone to pick with the phrase, "by the formidable maleness of him that surrounded her..." 🤣

It is a struggle to get through this book. Everytime I pick it up I have hope, but then I remember I'm not invested in the story. I don't care, if that makes since. I feel like this book wasn't written for me. It was written for Liberal White people and Bougie Black people....

I am interested in the book, but I dont like the author's voice. Seriously, I sometimes think she doesn't really like Black people. She seems to embody all the stereotypes of the bougie Black folks I have run into. Then again, I am like, maybe that is because she is being truthful to herself. I can respect that. But, yeah, I dont think I would like her as a person.

First story caught me. I was ready to put on my Jidenna gear and do what I gotta do.

Just finished the first story. I was a little skeptical at first, but it got really good. So far so good.

Approximately this far along. This is my first audiobook and, Bruh, I am in love. Trevor's voice got me all into this story.

This trilogy has me shook. The entire world was built and I feel both uncomfortable and content. I am not sure what I would do if I were a post-war human living with tentacle aliens. I just know that this story got under my skin, but in a good way. It just solidifies the fact that Octavia Butler is a phenomenal writer.
