The fact that this book won two awards and was listed for far more is concerning to me. While Reid-Benta's writing does demonstrate a lot of potential (at least, by contemporary fiction standards), there is an untenable tone of narcissism that just pervades this entire work. It reads as a delusional and clichéd wattpad story at so many moments.
