This is perhaps the longest audiobook I've ever read. So far, it's great.

I love the concept but I'm having a hard time seeing this through to the end. The story telling is just not entirely there. I have six days and over seven hours left on the audiobook... Thinking this is soon moving to my unfinished shelf.

Reading with child. This book is compeerleeterly f-ing weird. I can't really figure out why the child likes these.

The author needed an editor who is a lawyer. This book is a legal ethics nightmare . I WANT TO REPORT ALL THE CHARACTERS TO THE CA BAR!

Also, description of law school is totally not accurate and no one refers to law school as "college" or describes themselves as a college student when they were in law school.

Man, I really want to like Chabon's writing, but I when I read him I can't help but conclude that he is up his own arse. I read a lot of highfalutin writers, my recent obsession with trashy romance novels excepted, but I just can't with Chabon.

Also, the first person omniscient POV is completely distracting and does not work.

This book is terrible, but because it's such an iconic book and after years of trying to read it, I am committed to finishing it and then never looking at it again.

So far this is really not good, though I am determined to finish it. The writing feels like a teenage brain is stuck in the middle-aged body of the narrator.

Following news of Roth's death last week, I realized I hadn't read him, or nothing I could remember. His books were in our house when I was growing up, so I'm sure this isn't the first of his work I've set my eyes upon. I'm not far into this book, and it's no mystery to me why he won the Pulitzer. This is the first book I've read in a while that I haven't wanted to rush through.

I learned today that Appelfeld has just died. I checked this out of the library last week and so decided to promote it to the top of my book pile. So far, many similarities to The Man Who Never Stopped Sleeping.

I'm really enjoying this book, even while knowing that I'm probably not even getting half the jokes.

I tried reading this once before and couldn't get into it. Rather enjoying it this time.

Still really enjoying this, not least of all because Shadow is in a town 2 miles from my childhood home. (Note, there are no motels there, but artistic license.)

This off to a very promising start. Audiobook narration is excellent.

so far this is a tall glass of cheap white whine... and not in a good way. While I relate to the struggle of suburban motherhood, work life balance, I having a hard time sympathizing with the wife of a big law associate who is worrying about money.

So far I feel that I am reading this book in real time. Slowly. Don't get what the fuss is about but surely this will be revealed in the next 335 pages?

So far, I'm pretty sure this book will be a fail. The protagonist is completely unbelievable. Not giving up but very skeptical this will go anywhere good.

Seriously depressing read so far.
