surprisingly smooth reading so far (I’m not a fan of horror or gore)

I blame me trying to finish it solely on Garrett and his „Wellsy” (my favourite part of the series trailer).. but boy this should’ve ended like 4 chapters ago

I resisted reading „The Summer I Turned Pretty” or „Heated Rivalry” but this book-turned-TV-series was heavily discounted so I bought it and let me tell you I already regret after reading 14% of it..
masterclass in unlikeable characters, sexist takes and it reads like unedited memory dump

I have many feelings about this book and not all of the are nice and I feel like I’m betraying my close friend Rebecca Kuang with these

not even a cameo from any of the Slavic languages??

characters quoting passages from literary works to each other from memory is my pet peeve

it is a truth universally acknowledged that each story requires at least one (1) shadow daddy 🤷‍♀️

I thought it’s going to be Volsunga Saga meets American Gods but it’s just a really weak romantasy with stereotypical characters and the same overused phrases
I will finish it though because I can’t stomach 3rd DNF in a row

finally made it to Circe’s island and immediately got disappointed by how short this part is

so far it’s not too good, but I’ve read too many great books recently to complain

I won the lottery - it’s both a great read and it qualifies for the reading challenge revealed today 🥹

I only read „thrillers” to get goodreads challenge badges and they always turn out to be SO GOOD I end up thinking „why don’t I read more of those??”

every character is a diva here I kid you not

81 pages of introduction by the author highlighting history of the poem, translation choices and various topics from the story - I know how dull it may sound but truly, I am in heaven 🥰

I only listen to this audiobook when travelling and at this rate it will take me until 2027 to finish which is a disgrace - Patrick Radden Keefe is one of my favourite non-fiction authors and this book is fantastic

you may think „The Hierarchy” is just another „Red Rising” or „Hunger Games” or „Poppy War” but this part straight away goes in a completely different direction and it’s so great and refreshing 🥹
