Enjoying this book !

I am enjoying this book very much...Clever book title clever chapter titles, and witty, interesting stories. Each chapter is different, yet linked with the previous story and the one to follow.

We are reading this book to each other in the evening. The book is classified as History, but it also contains interesting descriptions of plants, animals, religious, political and scientific "influencers ?" of the time which was full of discovery.

This is another attempt at finding a collection of short stories to read in the evening to help us settle down. Too many of these stories lacked the sense of detail, of being fleshed out. I believe Mr. Hemingway was at heart a newspaper reporter/magazine article writer, and too many of these short stories took on that style. I've

Did not finish these stories

I read A Perfect day for Bananafish last night ' it was better than Fifty Grand by Hemmingway, but it had an unsatisfying ending. This book contains 9 short stories, the next is Uncle Wiggily in Connecticut .

I've decided to set this book aside. I'm looking for better plot development and more character development. This will be a DNF for now.

Some of these stories are good, some not so good. Hemingway conveys a sense of being there with many of his stories. his style can seem brief, almost terse. One of his early jobs was as a reporter, and I don't think he ever stopped being one.

I'm enjoying these interesting and well written stories, and they're short so I can remember the characters!

I am reading the Finca Vigia edition but couldn't figure out how to put the title up. This is a paperback edition and I wish the print was larger. I enjoy his stories, and his style of writing. .......Sister Gertrude Miriam, this book's for you.

Interesting and Funny!!

This collection of short stories was recommended to me by Starman. I'm enjoying it very much. It's a change of pace from reading nonfiction.

I'm just reading the Introduction, in which Ronald Blythe describes Tolstoy's efforts to understand Death, and the process of dying. The book is a short story, and many readers in our Book Snails group would read this in an afternoon. It will probably take me several weeks. The edition I have is the 2004 Bantam edition, and is in booklet form with cover and introduction. Lots to think about

I am fascinated by the information in this book. The narrative will end in about 20 more pages after which come the author's notes and references. The narrative is dense with information about fungi and those that study and work with fungi.

This book is going to be kept on our bookshelf when we are finished reading it. The reading is slow because we often pause to look up words or discuss ideas the author presents. The author weaves historical details, personal stories, and fascinating details into the examination of the trees, shrubs and even potted plants and soil that makes up our much taken for granted environment.

I find the story continues to be interesting and enjoyable to read. The authors each have written a part of the story and have focused on different significant characters. The book flows well as the characters each present their version of events.

This is an historical novel by multiple authors about the Roman province of Britannia and the rebellion led by Queen Boudica. The multiple authors give the novel the feel of multiple short stories.

This is one of my evening reads. The book has a store of interesting and, if you have any interest in plants, actionable information about how fungi work behind the scenes to make our world the way it is.
