Interesting how I got so interested in this so quick. The Indian Dumas apparently isn't holding back. And while it's true to its time, its wildly deviating from it as well, in what certain characters choose to do. And there are WOMEN in the story. Good god, this 1882 book. I wanted to sample a few pages and I'm halfway through already.

4th book completed! 4.5 and 5th book to go.

This has been so fun. Unlike Discworld which is tempered with philosophy and sobering moments, HG2G is entirely mad and unhinged (so far) and I love it. Want a few of its quotes on a T shirt now.

Human behaviour continues to be fascinating. And this book answers (or at least tries to) how we balance our notion of the self (good, upright, decent) with some not so good things that this self does. It's almost by instinct that we justify everything that we do and condemn everything that others (opposing us) do.

Wild how this found me right around a real life case study.

Wasn't expecting a book like this to keep me up for a weekday night reading binge, but it did. The translation is brilliant and can only imagine what the original would be like.

Also, a strange and subtle privilege of walking away from a cause that you cannot fully support, own, or change. And this is less than 200 pages in.
