This is where it gets really good! The book is broken down into 3 sections about work, I call them "The Good, The Bad and The Beautiful" - you'll have to pick up a copy to see what the real names are, but it will make sense when you do!

Loving the Psalms and Romans as Pastor Eugene Peterson gives the Scripture new life with his interpretation of the Hebrew and Greek.

The story of James' death is a tear jerker, caught me off guard and definitely moved me!

The quote about persecution not being about human rights, but rather a rite of passage for a Christian, really resonates with me. I pray, more and more, Christians would see that being friends of the world makes them enemies of God. Yes, we are called to love our enemies, and do good to those who persecute them, but we make God angry when we cuddle up to evil doers like Jehoshaphat did with Ahab. (2 Chron 19:2)

Just finished learning the difference between a vocation and a job. Very cool! This company of pastors concept is also pretty awesome! What if every city in America had a company of pastors!?

The letters from and to a Russian girl named Maria are absolutely phenomenal!

He calls his church the catacombs and I think it is very cool. The idea of a church being part of a greater story is refreshing, and I just really like the fact that he preaches 46 sermons on the book of Acts when the total attendance of his first service is 46. He parenthetically states he didn't make that numerical connection till he wrote it in this book wondering if it had any significance...

Finished Judges this morning - very tough story to end a book with. Need to go back to reading Luke to get the image out of my head. Its a very sad, scary, and sobering sight - what a country looks like when there is no leader and everyone does whatever they feel like doing.
