lotta horrible things happening to women in this volume :(((((
more than usual :((((((

the author just casually mentions that most houses in japan are under 30 years old? why the frequent tear-down and rebuild? seems weird.

idk why this book is so slow to start for me. it's good! i just can't seem to commit.

i was worried that this was going to stay tedious but it has become incredibly terrifying

this has been on my radar forever but i decided to finally start bc apparently david lowery is gonna make it into a movie??? fingers crossed!

i don't mean this in a "it's bigoted/sexist" way, but this is defs a book for men. the protag's voice just screams "i am telling this story to my guy friends," idk how else to describe it.

reading as much vamp stuff as i can get my hands on this summer

idk if it's a UK thing or just an author thing, but he says "VHS machine" instead of "VCR" lol

can't wait to be disgusted!

these kids are so stupid!

idk how to say this, and i don't want to put it in my full review at the end in case the author checks, but this book, which i assume is for adults, feels very much at like, a 5th-grade reading level. there will be multiple paragraphs describing the plot of a kids book or like, a joke that could be one line taking up 3 paragraphs. lots of repeating. lots of rhetorical questions. at least it reads fast. :/
