Wow...I don't think it was Tim's intention but he has made every healthcare worker in his non-fic book sound NASTY.

I just want MCs that act their age 😭

Amazed that there are still 4.5 hrs left to the audiobook.

The dialogue is so cringy. No adult talks like this.

It doesn't really feel like the FMC is ever actually in danger...so it takes away some of the unease/tension from the action scenes. Not bad but not as gripping as I was hoping it'd be.

Only 5 more days to finish this on Borrow Box. Not sure if I'm going to make it.

The characters are just so ordinary but the author is trying so hard to make them seem more complex than they are. I think if there were less flowery words/inner monologue, I might be enjoying it more.

The world-building has completely collapsed in on itself. The FMC is supposed to go to the Seelie court to 'learn' how to control her powers. But that was utterly pointless because the magic takes no skill or training at all to master. She just had to think "I want a house" for it to appear...what a waste of time. This whole book is so messy.

Massively disappointed. Everything about this book is so superficial. We were in desperate need of a plot in book 1 and I had high hopes that it would manifest in book 2 but I was sorely mistaken.

Not sure if it's the audiobook format or the actual content...but man I'm BORED. None of this feels plausible & the dialogue is driving me insane.

Last book ended on a cliff-hanger so let's gooooooo!

I was wondering why this reminded me so much of Edgar Allan Poe. I think it's a retelling/reimagining of his short story The Fall of the House of Usher🏚️ 🍄‍🟫 🐇. It's really intriguing so far!

This has started off so strong. I don't usually like 'writing inside of writing' as a trope but the murders being inspired by a fictional crime novel series has me hooked! As usual, I have no suspects so far 🕵️‍♀️

I've listened to a YA horror book by Michael Crouch before and he voiced the characters perfectly! He made the story feel so atmospheric and immersive. SOOOO excited to listen to him again in Hazelthorn 🖤

The plot peaked a little while ago and now it's starting to drag

An absolutely devastating read so far. The women are forced to work, bear children and suffer abuse at the hands of their unemployed, drunk husbands. The blurb is also wrong - the FMC was 12 when she was forced into marriage, which is horrific in itself.

Actually so proud of myself that my last 5 reads have been from my physical TBR 🥹 one day it'll be a reasonable size (maybe)

Sooooo excited to start this horror novel - based on my friends' reviews it's going to be a twisty one!

I had low expectations going into this because of the GR reviews but I'm actually obsessed 🩸🏚️☠️📚
