Alright people, it’s happening. This will be my first complete cookbook bake-thru. I am committed to baking every single one of these recipes. It might take me a year. Possibly 2. Maybe 10. But I will do it. And I’ll read every word, too.

P helped me make our first recipe last night - Thin and Crispy Chocolate Chip Cookies: delicious!!! Can’t wait to see what other treasures we find in this book 😍

I am obsessed with this book. The problem? I didn’t realize my hold for this wasn’t actually ready. I borrowed the sample anyway, got hooked, and am waiting in agony. I listened to a few chapters on audiobook but I just want to read it with my eyeballs. !!!

I think this is the 5th book I’ve started in the past 2 or 3 days because not much is really getting me hooked. Hoping this does the trick 👀

This is more like it 😂 idk if this book is life-changing but it played as an audiobook in the background as I cleaned out my entire wardrobe the past few days - during random pockets of the day instead of all at once, like Marie Kondo required 😜 . So far, so good! This way of thinking about decluttering is more of a fit for my family and personality.

Personally offended when she told me I was never going to read the books on my shelf that I haven’t read yet. Excuse me, I’m going to get to them one day, Marie.

It’s really fun to open a book and realize it’s about you 🤪 this elder Gen Z is reminiscing on my first smartphone, getting Facebook before I was 13, and the moment when Instagram introduced video (also RIP vine). Guess I’ll get to reflect on my being a guinea pig in addition to all the applications to parenting - woo 😂

My psychology program scoffed at the 5 love languages because the lack of scientific evidence behind the “types”, so I began the book with a negative bias. But I have teared up listening to this. This is essentially a guide to loving your kid in ways you might not have thought of, and how to find the ways that are special for your child. What a gift it is to have a book give practical, new ways to show love.

I just picked this up today and I am FASCINATED. It’s been so long since I’ve read a book from the perspective of a social scientist (low-key miss my sociology, psych, and econ classes) and the subject of mothers-of-many is SO interesting to me. I will have a hard time putting this down, and I already know I will be thinking about it for a long time.

This is lovely. So helpful, not preachy, fact-driven, but with helpful real life examples. I think it’s such a wonderful balance of having firm boundaries (like “old school” parents) with loving connection (like “gentle parents”) in a way that leaves room for individual families and kids. So much food for thought, and I’m excited to finish it!

So far, I’ve nearly cried at every poem that introduces each chapter. There is so much encouragement here, but rooted in reality instead of idealism. I’m so excited to continue reading and to get to the practical tips, too.

Listening on audiobook! Something struck me in the intro: “our job is to cultivate an environment in which our children thrive, to create the kind of homeschools our children need, not the ones in our heads” I think this is so good regardless of what educational route our family goes; it doesn’t have to look how I think it should look as long as my kids are truly thriving.

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve hated this so far. I feel like 2025 has been a big ole reading slump with just 1 book I couldn’t put down (thank you, Jennifer Lynn Barnes lol). 🥲
