3.75⭐️ It was a great book most of the way, but it seems to have lost steam right at the end. The world it imagined seemed entirely plausible, and was science-adjacent enough that everything it was doing made sense, which is a relief when reading a sci fi. I loved the coziness and vibes. I had hoped for more/deeper character development especially for Staybehind but that’s where I was let down in the end.

This author might be too “righteous” for me.

Two hours in and I’m not sure this book is it for me.

Devastating, and where you think she should have had enough it keeps going. Beautiful voice, evocative language.

Great book. Not a “front to back” read in one go though. I’ll take it out of the library again later.

20% in… This is a good book, maybe a gray book. I’m appreciating it but it’s getting under my skin and making me feel weird. I’m going to have to try again when the vibe is different. It’s not doing it for a summer read.

The whole “seduction” episode in Grant’s bedroom was out of nowhere and so cringe.

I didn’t read anything about this book before going into it so I was mad when the first story ended so abruptly. Then confused by the second story wondering if my sleep deprived state was making me crazy… but now that Ida has revealed what’s going on I just want to go back and start over from the beginning.

Not three minutes in, and this book is promising “a transformative journey that may not only heal your vagus nerve but also heal your soul”.

I feel a DNf coming…

Pretty good. I’m going to have to buy this one because I can tell I’ll want to reference it again later.

I can’t do it. This book did not age well. Maybe there would have been some redemption at the end, I’ll never know as I’m quitting at 56% with nearly 7 hours left to go. Life’s too short.

About ready to DNF due to misogyny, fat phobia…

Great writing. I struggled with the pace in the beginning. One of the characters was never named and it made it harder to piece the relationships together early in the story where we were jumping around different points of view. The story came together nicely in the end though. Maybe it’s a 4.5⭐️

Barbaric. Pornographic. Crass. The main character was so blasé about everything. Lol

I guess I expected too much. This one fell a bit flat for me, though I can see why others like it. It’s an interesting world but I felt like not much happened.
