This crime thriller is disturbing in a “can’t look away” way. Like one of those Netflix docudramas that you can’t believe is true.

More rough language than I prefer in a novel but the story is disturbing and gripping.

Crime thriller is not my usual genre and I’ve never read this author, but this thing has grabbed from the first chapter. Another summer road trip “book on CD” from the thrift store.

Got the audio book on CD from a garage sale. Seen the movies…never read the book.

I dread to finish this book because I just know the end is going to wreck me…

Really jarring shift to the 1st person perspective of a minor character from book one. (Although I know that Will Scarlett is not ultimately a minor character—this getting his own book in the series…)
You just don’t often see book one being a third person narrative and book 2 in a first person, telling the story to someone else, pivot.

Weird book. At the halfway point and they keep killing off whomever happens to be the current main protagonist. As soon as you start rooting for someone…they die.

A classic I’d never heard of until a few days ago and I am enthralled with this tale.

Gripping read from page 1…
