Gabrielle...we get it. YA novels from the 70's, 80's, and 90's were a product of their time and only had white het protags. But did you need to mention that before EVERY new introduction to a book? I get what the reviewers are saying now... you're hammering the point too much, bro.

This doesn't feel like much of a history of... more like, "here's this book and what it's about." I've listened to 28% of it, and I don't think I've retained much. But I've come this far, so I'll continue.

why are we getting a several chapter funeral for a character we just met and care little for? this book is bloated with scenes that go on for ever with no emotional pay out because it's done to characters i care so little for

If the Book Witches locked Alice in Wonderland to keep it safe, why didn't they lock all books?

Firstly, glad that Meg Shaffer rushed through the insta-love even more by summoning up a year of their relationship in a few sentences and breaking the "show no tell" rule. Secondly, why when Rainy is on her way to get Elizabeth back into her book she stops to fix up a small library, and I have to listen to the character 'name drop' a bunch of books she puts in it

The Duke has known Rainy for an hour, two tops, and he's already in love and spouting nonsense like, "I've opened my heart just for you." What. I'm going to be so fed up with these two

Wanted to make a quick update that so far, there's nothing bloated about this story, the humor is turned down, and the adventure starts right out of the gate. I feel that I'm going to love this book so much better than the first.

So, the adventure part is done, which, by my calculations, the adventuring was only half of the book. Again, I feel this book is bloated with too much unnecessary stuff. And I hate how much I like it.

Then it goes back to being addictive. DAMN YOU T.J. KLUNE

Listen, this book is fun. No doubt. But 13% in and Sam is on a date and there's no adventure. I picked this up for an adventure.
