Literally had to stop listening to this at work because it keeps making me cry. It's not even that sad, it's just so tender and sweet.

The setting of this book is so special to me. The author lives in Nova Scotia and the love she has for her province is so evident. I'm getting emotional from that alone. Truro, where my grandpa built a home that I visited every summer until both my grandparents passed away. Pictou, where I visit every summer with my parents. New Glasgow, where I spent summers gallivanting with my cousin making memories. Sobbing.

I don't think I've ever started a series over right after finishing it before but I need to fill the void until the new book comes out

Honestly, this one is making my tummy hurt. It's all from Kip's perspective which gives the book a very lonely feeling

If your wife told you, from a hospital bed, that people were coming for your baby, and then said people yeeted your baby off a roof AND THEN you woke up back in their apartment where they showed you a monster, WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU EAT FOOD THEY SERVED YOU????

This one isn't hitting the same as his other books tbh

I feel like this book is giving too much cozy mystery vibes for the main character to have THAT much of a traumatizing back story lol. I feel like the typical absent father or evil ex would have sufficed.

Everyone in this book is awful and I'm having a great time

There's something jarring about having almost 2 full books set in a fantasy world with specific vocabulary, then a character randomly says "fucking"

"So you confess it, then? That you are mine?"

Suddenly, I'm intrigued

Why am I bored?

I'm really trying to swoon but between the convoluted set up/plot, lack of communication, and straight up deceptive behavior, I'm just getting frustrated

The code word being "tree star" just tells me the author truly does love dinosaurs. That and the godzilla references make me think we could be bffs.
