HOW is malfi so underrated? Even when money is tight I will always spring for a new book by him. His novels are so much deeper and more literary than Stephen King. They draw you in on the first page and will not spit you out! This novel is no exception so far. Scary and spellbinding!

Compulsively readable with Sager’s signature writing style it seems so effortless and real. However the storyline is not as unique as usual. Still, I’m in it and racing to the finish line as always with sager’s books.

A real page turner!

This is off to a great start! A different type of self help and spiritual type of book. Not just empty catchphrases here! I can already tell this is a well researched and unique perspective! Soon to find a place in wokeTok?

This is the first book I’ve picked up in a while that I just can’t put down!

This book is so good! The characters are so realistic and funny. It’s been a while since I’ve found a book I really didn’t wanna put down but this is it!

So far this is a great read! Malfi may be a new favorite

Not the greatest… the story is compelling enough to want to finish but nothing special in my opinion. Some unique elements but not much suspense.

Well written and very poetic prose. Also an interesting take on the typical ghost story. A family that knowingly lives with the ghosts of the past in a very literal sense. Unusual and interesting so far!

Had a ton of potential but got caught up on main character’s back story. Devolved into a basic detective/police procedural rather than a complex thriller with focus on the sanitarium itself. It’s still a good book but not what intrigued me in the first place.

So far so good, compellingly paced and a unique setting. Looking forward to seeing how it unfolds

I wanted to love this but I’m stuck. It’s slow going and pretty dated. I may pick back up eventually but rn I’m disappointed

I had to put this one down for a bit. It is so dark! So twisted and I found it hard to get into. I may pick it back up at some point but I took off running with another novel in the meantime.

Ever since I read Boy’s Life by McCammon I have been hungry for more of the same. I have read another book by him in pursuit of that same magical coming of age type tale where the setting is as much a character as anything else... however mystery walk is the first book by this author and any other that has brought back some of that unique experience to me. I jumped in head first!

So fun! Terrifying and nostalgic it’s like reading Goosebumps for grown ups

This is one of those books where nothing is explained until the very end. It is long and drawn out. It’s an interesting story and compelling enough to stick with it but just barely. There is too much focus on unrelated subjects and not enough on the driving forces of the plot. I am hoping all will come together in the end or this will prove a colossal waste of time

This is the best author going

This book is really good! I’m trying to put my finger on how the author creates a main character who is both likable and despicable at the same time. Very human I guess. Excited for this one!

This book is perfect for this time of year I love the setting so far both the place and time period. Authentically spooky in that way that only historical fiction can attain.

Definitely millennial/gen z not something I’d typically read but it’s enjoyable so far

Creepy

Meh it’s an excellent premise however the plot holes do detract from the storyline more than can be overlooked. Also the ditsy characters take way too long to catch on as the clues emerge.

Despite a few glaring plot holes this is still an intriguing mystery. I’m enjoying it although the main character is very silly. Perhaps an intentional depiction of the insecurity and idiocy of youth? Let’s go with that.
