💔 tf I just started reading. Why am I blinking back tears?

All I know is that a boy… in a war-torn city… with little to no access to water, soap, or clothes detergent… cannot possibly smell like… lemons.

It’s been two weeks and I’m struggling to read this book. I am baffled by the high rating. It’s such poorly written. I’m cringing half the time. I should’ve chosen a memoir instead. This one is just terrible.
