Well I haven’t made the progress I had hoped for, but progress is progress. Robert Moses would be disappointed in my urgency, but he would be encouraged by my commitment to a monumental task. FDR just came in to the picture so that is interesting!

It is a bit disheartening that I’m essentially a complete “book’s” worth of pages into this beast and I feel like I haven’t made a dent yet.

It is really good, the actual writing and prose has helped it stay engaging. But it is boring at times still.

The book is excellent. But I have no motivation to read it. I must press on

This may be the only book I read the rest of the year. But it will be worth it.

I’ve been interested in The Troubles for a while now. Something about the conflict really fascinates me. As I began this book, I wondered why I was so interested. The fight between two religions I understand, in a language I speak, in a country I’ve visited (briefly) makes this different than other revolutionary conflicts in history. It feels easier to imagine, but also harder to understand.
