DDM perfectly encapsulates girlhood

It really irritates me how the author doesn't use speech marks when he's talking

I find Morrie inspirational and likable and I'm sure the writer is talented but the book feels meh

Didn’t think it’s redeeming qualities would bring it up to a 3 but am quite liking the twist and how everything is coming together

I love the quotes at the beginning of part 4. I don't understand how Kwan wrote such an interesting book with such interesting supporting characters yet made the main character so flat.

I think this is my favourite book in the series.

The will chapter makes for a delightful reading experience.

I'm enjoying this one as much if not more than the first one but in a more low key way.

Kwan was wise to have this book focus on characters that have already been established so he can focus on the details more. Really appreciate the subtle things like having everyone tell kitty she looks like a different Emma after her hair cut or using water to show who cares about Su Yi.

I don't like the new characters, everyone from the first book was forgotten too quickly.

Ok it has picked up again in the most spectacular way.

Rachel and Nick are boring and their dialogue makes me cringe. Also the dialogue of any of the fully English characters is completely ridiculous.

Maybe the first book had a novelty that has worn off this far into the second book or maybe I just prefer the characters and plot. I miss Eleanor and her friends, I thought they were entertaining and loved to see them scheme. This book is also a bit darker and more serious than the first one, I enjoyed how fun it was. The only storyline I'm invested in is Astrid's ( And maybe Kitty's a bit but she's not in it much).

Thought this book started off really strong and that it was going to be really exciting but am getting a bit bored. Thought that I would enjoy this more than the first one but I'm not as interested at this point. I didn't mind the "chapter for each storyline" format when I was excited to find out what happens in each one but now it feels like a bit of a slog getting through what I don't care about to get to what I do

On Michael: god he's an arse.

Starting off strong with a lovely bit of in media res. I think this drama will unfold nicely in this book given how nicely Kwan paced the first one.

Was excited to start this book after crazy rich asians.
