This was quite long and took longer to finish than I anticipated.
This was thorough and information dense.
I hope to have the review up tomorrow.

This is interesting but not feminist in the least.

This is an interesting premise but treats feminism as if it's synonymous with 'girl boss', and that's not actually feminist.
Nazi women had a lot of power but weren't feminist because you can't be both a feminist and an oppressor.

So this fails in the feminist thought experiment.
But succeeds in giving biographies of otherwise forgotten princesses.

Interesting. I'm biracial Black but older than the characters in this book and from the US.
Both my mom & 1 of her sisters were married to and had a child with a Black man.
Both of my white aunts had Black women friends and were largely welcomed into the Black Community.
My mom struggled because she doesn't really like Black women.
Interesting to hear that in Canada Black women were hostile.

"Back then, a rich white girl and a poor black boy didn’t have much of a chance."

What was this the fucking 50's? Sidney was likely born after Obama was president.
This is bullshit and nonsense.

My poor Black father did just this in the 60's. So what is Charlie on about?

This novel is frustrating, so much potential just wasted.

"Let’s get it straight: white folks did rape and steal and kill, and black folks died by the thousands—was dying all the way up’til a year ago. Never feeling shame for that, and not allowing us to feel anger over it, means we don’t evolve."

Lois is 10% done with The Containment: Detroit, the Supreme Court, and the Battle for Racial Justice in the North
The author is from Detroit but attended private suburban schools.
As a proud graduate of the Detroit Public Schools I feel sorry for her.
I got a world-class education and she could've as well in Detroit. From Black teachers who taught me immense pride in my history.
Also desegregation has created the school to prison pipeline and took Black teachers out if Black classrooms.
Schools need equal resources.

Genocide is to humankind like water, air.
