I’m giving this another go so I can read Penelope’s and Colin’s story.

I’ve been reading this for almost a month and I’m only at chapter 7. The plot is so slow because it’s rammed with backstory and mundane description. When will it get going?

Unfortunately, I’m getting bored. I’ve reached chapter 14 and so far the story consists of paragraph after paragraph of info dumping with a tiny sprinkle of action.
I’m praying something interesting happens that we’re not just told about through inner monologue when another character POV is introduced.

I’ve not touched this for about 5 days. Let’s see if I can get back into it.

I need to escape to a place with hot blue aliens.

I’m struggling. I put this down for a week and don’t know if I can be bothered to pick it up again. I’m finding it hard to engage with the heroine.

DNF @ chapter 11.

Sorry but this was another DNF.
The plot went round in circles rather than forwards and it became too frustrating.

Another DNF from this author. I know this is thirty years old, but I just couldn’t handle the head hopping that added nothing to the plot, the rambling dialogue, or the very slow pace.

Yay! I can continue now I have the book back!

I can’t believe how I’m struggling with this one.

Lovely, flowing writing.

The first study is a bit slow and not really drawing me in. I’ll have a break then try another story.
