So I realize this is early in the book to have a comment already, but there's a moment where Avah's emotions overwhelmingly spill out of her instead of the words she was intending to say. This sort of thing is something most people encounter more than once in their lives, and it is captured quite truthfully by Ms. Rose. Truthfully and succinctly. Well done.

Wow! That 36% flew by! Some great revelations and conflict and tension.

Chapter three has a great page turner of an ending

Good job of making me feel all the worries Avah feels. There is a great level of suspense already. Like we are just waiting for the bad thing to happen, whatever it may be. It is a great pace.

Nice first chapter. Good balance of recap and new stuff. Although I can't imagine not wanting to read the first book first, a person could jump into this book and get their bearings of the world within just a couple paragraphs.

The suspense is delicious. Has me reading as fast as I can and I can feel my insides twisting up around the idea of what is going to happen and how and why, but it is small and gradual twisting, so I am not terrified or scared away. I am just a little shivery and a lot curious and turning out to be braver than normal. Maybe too brave. We will see...

The boy with the sky in his eyes.--Love the poetry and sounds of this line. Also, captivating first couple of pages. A little tough to get a firm grasp on keeping the POV characters straight so far, but I feel like I am quickly getting to know Julian and his relationships with those around him. Very much has the feel of a documentary. Love it though.

But I didn't have hindsight. When it came to Windhollow Faire, I was utterly blind.

I like that not only does she have curves, but she has no thigh gap and some stretch marks too. This feels like a real woman rather than just a fantasy. Nice.

Some repetitive/extraneous words that could be cut, but I like the voice of Cora. Easy to believe and get on board with so far. Some good specific details too.

I like the rarer use of a male point of view to open the story. Quite a few details that are woven in nicely and doing a good job of fleshing out the POV character

"shade it from the sun, yet hide it from the darkness"

The tension in this scene is EXQUISITELY drawn out!

"Always keep your blade close and your common sense closer"--love this line. Nice way with words so far.
