Laura is starting And Then There Was You
This book starts with a complete failure of a simile about musical chairs that makes me think that the author definitely has never played musical chairs, and possibly has never crafted a simile.

The book says repeatedly that the FMC is 33 years old (about to turn 34), and that she conceived her child at 17. That child just graduated from high school. I would assume that the kid skipped a grade or two, except that the book specifically mentions that his father started school a year later than his age-mates, so wouldn’t the kid’s odd age be explained? Maybe it’s still coming…

I didn’t know that this book was about Hitler atrocities. Pausing here until a different day.

Laura is reading All the Light We Cannot See
I think this story would have been just as good if the author had told it in a straight line. All the jumping around in the timeline was very confusing to follow, especially when it was a difference of months or days. Once, my audiobook player was accidentally set to Shuffle, and I didn't even notice until it went back to a segment I had already read...

Entertaining, in a James Bond-implausible sort of way. I plan to read more in the series.

No big surprises in this book, since it's mostly set in the past, but it was a good story. That said, it drives me NUTS that the author repeats parts of the story line within the same book! I can understand explaining backstory that happened in other books, but in the same book? It's insulting, and frustrating to have such blatant filler taking up space in the book.

This book is like its predecessors -- good entertainment, if not great literature. The author's use of the word "cupping" dropped by several percentage points in this installment, so that's a plus!

Liked this series! Sure, it could have had fewer teen moments in it, but the overall story was engaging and fun. Not sure I agree with the overall result of Lucy and Paul's plan, but maybe there wasn't a way to incorporate a greater good.
