Aagh Kenny is soo stupid, it's so obvious that Jackie is faking the baby! Also forget slow burn, there was like nothing for 55% of the novel, and now when I should be getting my first sex scene, I'm not!

Also, author had Han ask Kenny if he was a dom or sub- but I felt like there was some top/bottom confusion there. "Vers" is technically an axis of sub/dom, but I wasn't very convinced by the writing that author does

This book has felt long - why haven't they hooked up yet? Why are they both so bad at reading each other's emotions, when they are the people who know each other the best? :/

They constantly bring up money as a problem, but they're ordering Ubers and Instacart and Pizzas all the time!

Also, not loving the Jackie Pregnancy plot. Looks like that 3/5 might be well earned

It's fun, but nothing special. The writing is a bit cumbersome - too many 'bros'. Solid 3/5. But I want to read more, so probably going to put in a 4/5 instead

I don't really like the characters, but I'm still having fun reading it. The writing is also very clunky, which is on purpose to match the characters, but it's moreso distracting than a benefit to the narrative

Just finished two more short stories, which I loved. That included the namesake of the collection, a quietly sad story about a woman separated forever from her family by technological advance, business interests, and her own desire to contribute.

This whole collection has been very quietly sad, with stories about women isolated in space, in thought, in experience.

Loved the first story, about baby brain waves and an artist who could see another planet

God this is so much more readable that House of Leaves

Ugh. You can tell this was written my a man. "breasted boobily" coded - every single female character is defined by a man or their relationship to a man - either as a wife, daughter, or lover (which I use here as it more accurately captures how gross it all feels). Like every woman has sex with the MC, and he goes on and on about a stripper, who the author spares no expense describing (including her tatted pussy).

Switching from ebook to physical book, as I actually own this one. Also, this is shaping up to be a won't-they-won't-they instead of a will-they-won't-they

Really into it, though I lose track of some of the characters - especially the monikers. I have a very difficult time associating a person with a year (as their name)
