Okay but why am I having so much fun? The descriptions of the monsters are just so much fun and I mean 16th century names puns — y’all know that’s my kind of nerdy

So good! I really miss Succession but this is a good substitution. RIP Howard Ashman one of the most talented and impactful storytellers of the 20th cent <3

Love what Dickens has to say about the importance of mystery and intrigue to the instigation of mass political violence

I’m having so much fun with this so unexpected!

"There are tales among us that you have sold yourself to the devil."
"We all have have we not?" returned the stranger, "If we were fewer in number, perhaps he would give better wages."

I owe a lot to Lindsay Ellis, watching her videos at 14 made me realize I could turn my love of art into something constructive, analytical and creative. Though I am normally not a sci-fi girl, I feel the least I can do to pay her back for her influence on me is to read one of her books. So far pretty fun!

“Little girls play with dolls in the hospital wards. The dolls can close their eyes, and that’s how you know a doll is dead. ‘Why do the dolls die?’ ‘Because they’re our children, and our children aren’t going to live. They’ll be born and just die.’”

"We are going through an emotional retuning. Instead of the usual words of comfort, a doctor tells a woman whose husband is dying, 'No going near him! No kissing! No cuddling! This is no longer the man you love, it's a contaminated object.' Here, even Shakespeare bows out, even Dante ... In their world, love has changed. And death too. Everything has changed, except us."
