I appreciate that the FMC is TRULY clumsy and awkward, and not just in a "not like other girls" occasional way.

The work presentation was a big YIKES, and despite her work rival being truly a mean girl, it was truly Hannah who'd screwed that presentation up. Her awkward encounter with her then-boyfriend was also cringy in a good way, and her "entering the door" moment was relatable and not at all graceful.

Good choice by Carly. Lauren seems much more present as a mom than Devin does as a dad.

See??? Devin's coming off as a deadbeat dad to BOTH his kids at this point, and he needs a MAJOR redemption arc (or valid excuse for forgetting to complete his baby questionnaire) to make me root for his and Bea's HEA.

Devin better have a major redemption arc. His forgetting his daughter's schedule + showing up late to pick her up from Bea's is turning me off. And fine, not a major deal if he's a workaholic, but it IS a problem when he's too devoted to his work and STILL fighting for main custody of his daughter. I don't believe he'll give her the care she needs & worry he'll just dump the responsibility on Bea.

Got this as an advent book and so I'm reading it a couple chapters at a time. It's much slower than I usually read, but I'm actually loving this pace? Annie and Mac are very much winning me over, and I'm so glad I get to savour how their story unfolds. 😍

I don't understand why he'd keep this a secret? I get the plot reasons but it doesn't seem a scandal about him, and honestly seems cruel to the kids.

DNF 38%. Not into the story at all; held on to it for a conveniently portable read while traveling, but found myself not interested enough to pick it back up.

DNF 80%. Not a bad story, and it was good company while traveling, but I'm not interested enough in the story to keep reading. Nice as background sound more than anything else.
