The last 5 pages were super blurry. Anyone else’s copy like that? What a beautiful, and confronting story about those who not only served in Vietnam but were so easily forgotten and completely disregarded for all that they had endured. I truly had very little idea and this has really opened my eyes and made me incredibly grateful for the time I was born into it.

I’m biased because Ashley is one of my fave romance authors but this is another 5 star book from me. From her. Not only from the romantic relationship but the family and friend dynamics as well. Very wholesome and heartbreaking.

I don’t know how to feel about this book. It was an enjoyable read for most of it. I actually caught myself thinking about the podcast Sounds Like a Cult because since before listening to a few episodes I only have a vague idea of what a cult is actually like. This book clearly paints that picture and continues to get cult-ier.

So.. it had me until the last chapter. Numerous twists and turns. Just when you thought you might have the ending laid out for you, it changed and I loved that but then it just lost me in the last 20ish pages unfortunately. Still worthy of 3 stars as it kept me hooked and entertained!

No but seriously another 5 star book. It was so beautifully written, I don’t think I’ve highlighted so much in one book ever. It’s not a story with a happy ending but such a strong and powerful message about grief and how we learn to carry it with us.
