Because why not

Y’all I am not convinced

This is really great

Really great book. Getting tired of all these character driven novels

Fascinating central question and treated well so far. This is what good history writing that “advances the field” looks like.

Slow going, but don’t worry: my review will be speeding toward you like swift arrows.

Translation note went hard. I’m invested.

Beautiful. Irish.

Everybody, their mom, and their dog catching strays in this book

Saw the twist coming about a page before it happened but WHOA

A little concerned how much I’m enjoying pulpy thrillers these days

One of the advantages of marring a librarian is the ARCs she brings back from conferences 👀👀

These some messed up ppl

Gosh dang it, this book is a lot of fun

Plugging along

Only a few pages in and one thing is clear: when it comes to leaks, the 2024 trump campaign was about as watertight as a colander 😂😭🫠☠️

“Will you be?” I asked, suddenly anxious. “Will you really be here?”

“As long as you want me,” he assured me.

“I’ll always want you,” I warned him. “Forever.”

🤮

Saddest first 58 pages of a book I’ve read in a long time 😭

Finding this to be a bit ponderous so far

Reminds me why I liked my time at Wheaton so much. Thankful for historians/profs who care about teaching people to do history well just as much as they care about the history itself

Arrived ON my doorstep today. LETS GET EXCITED

Describing being a priest on Ash Wednesday as “the most punk rock thing I do all year” is a GREAT line.
