Advances in technology produce a surplus worker population, thereby depressing wages. Technology therefore augments the degree to which labor can be exploited.

When the worker cooperates with others, he strips off the fetters of his individuality and develops the capabilities of his species.

To think of disobedient (political) minorities as rebels and traitors is against the very letter and spirit of a Constitution whose framers were especially sensitive to the dangers of unbridled majority rule.

To do nothing in response to evil but vote against it is to willing accept evil until the majority does not.

Capital consumes labor, therefore capital consumes the worker.

And this book is consuming my brain. It's so dense...

The labor withdrawn from the market by death must be continuously replaced by (at least) the equal amount of fresh labor. Therefore the means to sustain labor must include the means necessary for the worker's replacement, in order that labor may perpetuate in the market.

Basically minimum wage needs to be at least enough for the working class to afford to have kids.

Well it took us about 160 pages to get from the concept of barter to money and another 40 to start talking about money supply, so we're making progress.

It's a weirdly readable book despite being drier than a slice of week-old rye bread.

If Stormlight is Sanderson's most badass series, the is his most fun series. I'm really enjoying the story and dialogue.

This series proves that Sando can be legitimately funny without resorting to MCU-esque humor. And forcing him down to 400ish pages really makes the story and dialogue feel snappy and fast-paced. Idk if he changed editors between Mistborn and Stormlight but it feels like a different (better) Sanderson compared to Wind and Truth.
