I read the first hundred pages of The Terror. The first few chapters were difficult, but I managed to pick up the momentum. All the characters, so far, are intriguing. Simmons has done a fantastic job portraying the men of Erebus and Terror. To be honest, I watched the series a long time ago and was hesitant to start this because I did not like it. But... the book is proving me wrong :)

My education about the Conquistadors is basic. I have heard of the exploits of Hernan Cortez through novels like The Captain From Castille and animated movies (like El Dorado). I know about Peru and the Incas, by passing. But the Pizarro family and Francisco Orellana escaped me completely.

I love these stories of seduction... And I am thrilled to be reading something new by this outstanding French author.
