i’ve already mostly skipped the first two ridiculously depressing chapters. i already don’t care what happens to either main character, as their introductions were beyond emotionally manipulative.
this is the last book i’m trying for the AAPI resting challenge because EVERY BOOK is this kind of “life changing” “ghibliesque” crap, or otherwise depressing memoirs about how shitty it is to be a person.

i really like juergen and several other supporting characters, but the MC is a doormat and it’s getting old. her mother is a nightmare and she allows it. the town cop is a disgusting sex pest and she allows it. i like this series but i’m also really irritated by these side characters. i understand confrontational relationships but the mother is so OTT that i had to skip whole sections to maintain my sanity.

i thought i was going to have to bail because ibrahim was so irritating and i haven’t the patience for bullshit-even from book characters. it’s getting more interesting, though i’m skipping the bits with the POS mugger kid because i don’t have enough calm to be angry with one more person.

FINALLY. i’m not at all surprised that this author said “fuck you” to abuse porn and made selena strong, if a bit battered and careworn from years of gaslighting. instead of a whiny heroine who refuses to make decisions, we get a bad bitch who’s getting her confidence back.
bless you.

i’m likely going to dnf this book.
the narrator is not good
the male antagonist is such a prick that i already can’t listen to his parts and i’m still in the first chapter.
if you’re going to make romance the main subplot, SAY SO. you may think everyone enjoys a little romance in every book, but it’s not so. please leave that garbage in your YA romance work.

i am literally begging authors to stop writing antagonistic characters that are so fucking infuriating that i DNF your fucking book.
and a note to narrators: i am happy to pack away my grammar/pronunciation police tendencies with the average person in the street. HOWEVER. if your JOB is to read what others have written, the least you can do is learn to pronounce it correctly.
there are two r’s in library. ffs

i either need authors to write less whiny and irritating antagonistic side characters or i need narrators to tone down the whining in their delivery. i shouldn’t be getting annoyed and rageful listening to a fantasy novel. minus one star for lottie’s existence.

this book has lost a star because in all the stories i’ve read, bran isn’t a FUCKING PUSSY. now he’s suddenly equating a CHILD being turned against her will with ADULTS and jo chose to be monsters. that’s some fucking bullshit. i have never been this angry with patricia briggs AND I DONT LIKE KIDS. but the hypocrisy is next level grotesque.

i love hobbes and the whole crew as much as i hate andy. jfc. i get that there needs to be a stupid sidekick but he makes hastings (poirot) look like fucking genius. as a person with adhd, i can get behind a character who struggles with getting stuff done as much as i do. however andy doesn’t try, doesn’t listen, and refuses to take responsibility.

honestly i just started this book and i already hate it. i’m so sick to death of authors profiting from the backs of abuse towards women. their work seems to imply that things have vastly improved for people without a penis. i’m here with no bodily autonomy to say “fuck you. that’s not true”.
this entire list of books is depressingly alike and i’m not interested in any of it as i live the nightmare.

this book was published while i was in high school. like the “prey” series by john sandford, i’ve been reading this author for over half my life. at some point i had to stop because the depictions of violence started to read like torture porn. also lucy, who was an irritating child, grew into a complete fucking asshole.
there’s so much outdated tech, i can’t sort how this became a series.
