I’m getting tired of “Er…” on seemingly every page. The dialog between characters is exceptional and the detail of scenes is so vivid you feel transported to this wacky, upside down, version of England. It’s like Alice in Wonderland and Bridgerton all rolled into one, and though that seems like a lovely idea it somehow misses the mark.

Not too sure about how I feel over this one. The banter is well done, and I love the creativity of hidden weapons, blades at the end of parasols, deft thievery, how was the bracelet and pen purloined when Ned and Cecelia were just standing and talking to each other? However, flying houses? Even though the “how” was explained this may be beyond even the limits of my willing suspension of disbelief.
