The thread in this book, Faith’s new friends pulling her from the brink of loneliness with the foil of her mother’s lack of friends, her loneliness, and her propensity to jump from man to man and fill her life with booze…this line hit hard: “you were making such a ruckus’s, but maybe that’s how you fought off your loneliness.” Oh, how I identify, and how deeply that cuts. I’m so tired of being lonely

So far this book is sweet. I identified with Faith right off the bat, being a stranger in a strange land, watching strong friendships all around you and the overwhelming loneliness of knowing exactly what you are missing. Faith is hiding her roots, and when the other ladies ask her about who she is she offers a veiled reality. It will be interesting to see how her omissions affect the plot.
