2. I’m listening to the audiobook and am annoyed by the reader. The little girl voices of the female characters make me want to puke, and she mispronounced the word ‘posthumously’.

I had seen this author a couple of years ago at the Tucson Festival of Books.

I’m listening to the audiobook, read by the author. Listening to the prologue, which talks about an extremely near death experience and lengthy hospital stay nearly made me cry, knowing how his story ended.

I like being inside Joy’s mind.

Interweaving history and brain science through highly interesting anecdotes.

I think this is the book JD Vance tried to write.

I can picture this as a Coen brothers’ movie.

Only 30 pages in and I’m in love.

I’m giving this book 5 stars and I haven’t even finished it yet. The author is smart, insightful, articulate and funny. She isn’t afraid to call people out on their shit, but does so with empathy. My only problem with the book is that I want to know the outcomes; what happened to the letter writers afterward.

Blackman is a deft storyteller whose skillfully crafted prose reads like poetry.

Clear and vivid writing. Jamison has the uncanny ability to bring thee reader right inside her mind and understand her thought process.

This would be an interesting companion to Our Town.
