you can tell that the way the capitol treats the districts is deeply ingrained in the culture and you see it in the way the deaths are treated. Arachne gets a whole ceremony and the main characters actively mourn her (even if coryo is unhappy about it) while the tributes body is paraded around and used as an object. So far, the book is changing how I see the original trilogy

I can’t help but notice that snow was at some point a decent person, he has moments of having heart but then you get instances of capitol attitude and the way he talks about Lucy gray. His language suggests he sees her as purely a possession and something he owns, keeping the tributes in the zoo also shows how the capitol sees them, they are animals.

Its interesting to see where snow started before the orignal trilogy however its interesting to see that he's always been this way, his character shifts depending on who he is talking to. In the poverty he finds himself in, he is truly no different to those in the districts that he looks down on, the only thing keeping him safe, and just barely, is his family name.

Finished the first part of this and while the character assassination (I’m aware of the irony here ) is pretty obvious, as a couple Roma and Juliette are tooth rotten cute. The balance their romance and the main plot was perfect with the ending leaving me wanting to know way

rosalind is truly the tragic character of this book though I can hardly feel sorry for her given she has sold out her family. Glad to see marshal and benidikt back together, practically living to annoy Roma

so the nationalists have finally taken over and the pair are lovers again. While they are cute together it still feels out of no where

though the plot twist about the blackmailer did actively surprise me

I called it from the end of the last book about benidikt and marshal! It's finally picked up and once again im finding myself so much more interested in the action and politics in the background - think thats a sign that the romance isn't all that believable

this is dragging can't lie, I love the tension but I just cannot get into it

had time for another chapter, wasn't expecting Juliette and her father to be in a meeting with the montagovs much less that lord montagovs would suggest their heirs work together. The way Julliete is completely thrown by this and Roma is reluctant to help is such a breath of fresh air. It's here I realised that I'm much more interested in the politics going on alongside the main romance.

I think the writing in this book is a step up from the first one, I can actually feel the hatred Roma has for Juliette and its refreshing to having a role reversal between the two. Its also nice to have a look into the home life,its clear that they are both just products of their environments though the slip up from lord cai showing that he does care for Juliette was nice.

this slow burn does not feel earned at all

why do parts of this book drag and other parts go too quick ?

HOOKED

all I can say so far is that I am hooked and I the world building so far is gripping. I love the attention to historical detail and the characterisation.

in a full day, I've nearly finished this whole book (lets ignore that I had a very slow day at work)

I think the last book in the series really steps up, im glad that this story isn't dragging

She's leaving Morganville!

thought it was sweet that all of her friends wanted to see her off, and Im HERE for Shane BEGGING for an apology that he isn't getting. I do think that the first chapter dragged on a bit but I think claire finally leaving vampire central will be a good thing- looking forward to see how morganville has effected her after 2 years

The return of ysandre! I still don't like her but I did find the way she stabbed Amelie very in character. I think the power shift has been coming for a while, and how it happened felt very natural. I find myself with this book being more interested in the vampires over the humans which I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not

will I finish this in 24 hours? let's see
