this reads like a compound bilingual in the american diaspora crying about the 'motherland' on twitter. the prose doesn't feel natural, honestly, it's more of spoonfed chunks of ideas about repatriating to malaysia with really awkward attempts of accentuating the protagonist's mom's 'accent' to highlight a sense of nativity.
