one of the first books i've read where the protag morally acts against the narrative than comply with it. read spoilers and the hints of her actions makes so much sense considering fang runin's first strategies in case of resource scarcity is genocide. creative :/. also this yin nezha kid is like chinese draco malfoy. he's really a headass. i would punch my pirated version of this book soon i think.

“Altan was a Speerly, already predisposed to rage and disaster.” interesting way for jiang ziya and others to describe a dark skinned character :/ and the fact that rin who herself is dark skinned is being compared to this. :/ plus rin's fucked up utilitarianism in the later books affirming these notions.
