Just fyi, when I rate any of these memoirs that I'm reading for my thesis I more or less rate them based on how useful they were for my research.

Every single character was unlikable and the writing was bad. Example: "She was everything and she was nothing, which made her the perfect amount of something."

Translation during wartime is an interesting topic but sometimes I read stuff like "One of the subjects of the conversation was the sex life of fish" in these memoirs and I question my choices

If I hadn't correctly guessed who the killer was within the first few chapters this would've been a five star read

honestly enjoyed this much more than I think I would

Very mixed feelings about the way this was told, but the first part was actually helpful for my research

Reading this for research purposes and research purposes only

oh they burned so bright (I'm crying)

The food stuff is super interesting, but I would probably hate talking to the guy in real life

mh don't know how I feel about this yet

Yes.

This is obviously a book on sociolinguistics, but I was honestly hoping the linguistics part would be explored more

abso-fucking-lutely horrific

Fast-paced, female rage, and an actual love TRIANGLE

uhm why are they walking away from each other on the cover?

idk why I expected the writing to be better than in the first book
