I lost all sense of time and memory and accidentally read wayyyy too far ahead of my book club, don't ask

4 book club sessions done of 8 -- we're halfway, y'all!! I love the narrative structure of this book, even if it is a massive, massive brick.

Iiiiiii am getting really tired of this drawn-out personal conflict between Stella and Ky.

Things I did not expect going into this book: to start liking Declan Lynch SO MUCH

Gregor is such a sweet boy and I love his developing dynamic with Ares ahhhhh

Reading so I can watch the show, and still trying to see what all the fuss is about John Green-wise--- but hhhhhh I'm struggling again with my hatred for his male protagonists.

can't tell if my vast, guilty love for Parker is gonna lead to really good character development & a redemption arc, or sheer tragedy and fury. i guess we'll find out!!!

mmmm this premise should've been my everything, but I think I'm suffering the problem that I was really not in the right mood for this book right now -- but I also need to finish it for the Hugos. We'll see how I feel by the end!

I'm actually glad that I read "The Vital Abyss" before this (despite that novella being listed as #5.5), because Cortázar is mentioned in the epilogue and I YELLED

tfw you're suffering from an extreme book hangover because the last book you read was too perfect for you, and now you don't know how to fill that void. (Kameron Hurley's THE LIGHT BRIGADE was really excellent, y'all.) Does anyone have any recs for military SF/space opera written by women? I'm eyeing Elizabeth Bear's 'Jenny Casey' series but idk.
