HBO really adapted this so poorly. Everything is laid out to decisively tell the story and they completely crater the characters of the green side. They are so middling in the show. Rhaenyra’s character was already poorly written here so I’m not surprised they messed her depiction too. The change to Laena’s death is one of the most egregious- made no sense what they did in the show.

Jahaerys was a wicked fool meanwhile Viserys was a careless fool. From killing his wife Aemma like Jahaerys helped kill Alyssa and Daella to allowing the hightowers to hijack his bloodline. And to think Visenya and Aegon had no sense to ensure all dragon riders regardless of gender became warriors. The Doctrine of Exceptionalism in practice only benefited the men.

Two women with dragons just disappear but of course the dragons return somehow. Making nothing of their lives at all. Not even to become warriors or swordsmen like Jonquil. Pitiful.

I’m assuming his affair with Clarimonde the necromancer of the group was a long ploy for a resurrection spell. My general impression is that Occultists might as well be conspiracy theorists.

I loved that Shae was able to finally take pride in her position as Weatherman and that Hilo knelt at Ayt Mada’s feet.

Sunto definitely lied about his devoutness but it still ties back to his worship of money anyway, Hilo really should’ve killed him. I’m concerned Niko’s wake up call will be more painful than inspiring just like all the other Kauls. Shae having to kill her traitorous boyfriend, Hilo watching his peers die or even Anden having to kill in bitter revenge.

Ayt Mada despite all the evil things you’ve done to the Kaul family - I think you’re my favorite character in this series. Hilo’s hubris still gets the best of him even at forty - if he survived that he deserves every single wound. Ema was a great character too, I’m glad it was her that got the strike.

he did the right thing mostly, Wen is recognized officially instead of relegated to the shadows due to her gender and stone eye nature. He trusts her again. Iyn Ro’s death is a bit dishonored. Her killer is exiled instead of executed. what led to her death was misogyny, his and Tar’s. Her love was expected to fix sth that love couldn’t fix in Hilo’s marriage. He understands LAN’s despair finally.
