I've been enjoying this on audio, but I have the house to myself tonight so I thought I'd crack my physical copy as a treat. What a slap in the face it was when the receipt slipped out and I realized I paid 28 fuckin' dollars for a book without any fuckin' punctuation!! No quotation marks? Okay, fine, but a whole chapter, nearly a quarter of the gd book, is also missing periods and commas for seemingly no reason!

I put this down a year ago and I can't stop thinking it deserves another shot!

The first story has me crying on a plane. The tension is so tightly wound, I had to put it down and remind myself it's fiction.

Maybe it's cause I'm a mum now but I just keep thinking "Evie go home!!!"

The tone here is so detached, no feelings are explored...that coupled with a story about boredom in marriage and the result is sooo bleak.

The Depressed Person: fucking phenomenal. Glad to have picked this up for a second time so soon after reading Rejection by Tony Tulathimutte.

This book is too quotable, I've underlined it all

It feels disrespectful to fictionalize the final moments of real people right before they died...and I'm assuming we're also going to get some detail on the brutality of their deaths as well. The families of these two are presumably still around to see this. I want to see authors employ some ethics and care when writing about such topics. And..did we really need the paragraph about how to light a Bic lighter? ++

I think this writing style might be a bit too twee for me. Feels like Lemony Snicket for adults. I'll give it 30 pages.

This is sooooo boring

Loved this book a couple years ago; realized I couldn't remember much about the main character's postpartum experience, and isn't that the whole point? Should stick in my mind now I've had my own kid.

My highschool AP English teacher was obsessed w Shakespeare so I missed this one as a cold hearted teen; someone pls tell me if a rabbit or puppy dies, I don't think I can handle that rn 🫣
