I am on the struggle bus with this one. While I think there’s an interesting idea here, there are so many things that should’ve been caught in the editing process.

Uh oh. I might have to DNF this. The FMC said something so ridiculously stupid on pretty much the first page that I’m having trouble getting past it.

I’m trying to listen to this audiobook but the voice actor will not stop with the mouth noises. It’s intentional, part of his performance, and I appreciate that he’s really trying to inject a lot of feeling and emotion into the characters, but every time he gulps or clears his throat or wheezes or talks as if his mouth is full I feel like vomiting.

Me, after getting exasperated with this FMC’s complete unwillingness to face reality for the 71539th time: Truer words have never been spoken.

This book has a very high average rating, but so far I’m not really vibing with it. The first scene after the prologue is really messy. Our protagonist goes from the assertion that she will never love again to thirsting after the new neighbor in about two seconds flat. I can’t get a grasp on what the tone of this book is supposed to be.

Switching to the physical version at a little over the halfway point. The audiobook is…kind of a mess.

Yes, I’m reading a holiday romance in March. Mind your business. 🤣

Not hating this, but I wish we were getting Lucy’s POV. And I’m wondering at the decision to write this in third person.

So far this book is fine but it’s not hooking me like I expected.

I f*cking hate these kids. Like, HATE them.

This one is on a bit of a short leash. I didn’t realize this was dark academia-ish when I picked it up. Since that subgenre rarely works for me I don’t want to force something and give this a bad rating just because it’s not my thing…but hopefully it’s the exception to the rule!

This isn’t awful, but I know I’m not going to continue with the series…but I’m almost 75% in and I really hate DNFing this far in.

This might be the most aggravating, enraging, unsympathetic protagonist that I’m pretty sure we’re supposed to root for that I’ve EVER read about.

The timeline here makes absolutely zero sense.

I have no idea WTF is happening, but I will say this: DO NOT let strangers come into your house, especially when you’re alone in the middle of nowhere, especially if you feel uneasy. I don’t care if it’s a family. ‘No’ is a complete sentence.

Decided to give this polarizing book a shot. Feeling a little meh so far, if I’m being honest. Gonna listen to a bit more of the audiobook and see how it goes.

I know I’m only a quarter of the way in, but this one is working for me. I’m a little surprised at the low-ish average rating and nervous it’s going to drop the ball at some point. 😅

This book has so many inconsistencies that I started keeping a list. I’m not enjoying myself and want to DNF, but I’m also curious to see if any of my questions are ever addressed.

It’s not fair to this book, but I really need for it to wash away the memory of the last book I read. So far we’re doing okay.

So Frankie ‘didn’t realize’ women could do anything other than being a nurse, teacher, or secretary (and eventually a wife and mother), but she confused and surprised that her parents aren’t jumping for joy that she’s joined the military? 😒

I am not having a ‘very merry’ time right now.

I don’t get the hype. I’m so bored 🫣

So far I’m sort of underwhelmed…feels like I read a different book than everyone else. 🤷🏼‍♀️
